Newrest is looking for an Assistant Dispatch Manager who will be responsible for providing direction and oversight management to the Dispatch department. This individual ensures that flights are completed in a timely and quality manner by our drivers. This is a complex, management position that relies heavily on getting things done through other Dispatchers and providing the oversight and direction for the department. This individual needs to be a self-starter and be able to assist in developing, training and holding people accountable through clear expectations under the Dispatch Managers leadership.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Bachelors in Operations, Logistics, Business Management, or related field preferred but not required
3-5 years’ experience in inflight catering or airport hub environment, manufacturing, logistics, or food industry or similar industry managing employees
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Strong leadership experience with experience in turnaround environments
Strong communication skills with ability to communicate with non-exempt to upper management levels
Ability to effectively handle conflict and de-escalate emotionally charged situations
Good understanding of OSHA, HR, and other employment laws
Good knowledge of investigation procedures and root cause analysis
Understanding of lean manufacturing principles and operational processes
Strategic thinker with creative and excellent problem solving and decision-making skills
Resilient self-starter, who can act independently and learn quickly within a rapidly evolving environment
Aptitude in showing self-initiative and follow-through
Detail-oriented and ability to see big picture
Strong ability with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Excellent organizational and motivational skills
Outstanding attention to detail and observation ability
Strong analytical skills for interpretation of data to effectively manage risk
Ability to effectively collaborate with site operations, functional leaders and external clients and vendors
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Supervisory and Management
Supervise and manage the work of all the employees in the department.
Motivate and inspire team members to perform above expectations through proper recognition methods and programs.
Ensure that all policies and procedures are followed per Newrest and client’s requirements
Communicate effectively with all crew members and team members
Hold team members accountable for all expectations
Operations/Logistics
Ensure compliance with all government regulatory agencies standards (example: Food and Drug Administration (FDA), United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Environmental Protection Administration (EPA), Department of Transportation (DOT), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), etc.)
Investigate and complete incidents/accidents documentation
Observe service operations, ensure all ramp safety, AOA safety, security rules and regulations are followed, and report any violations
Provide solutions to problems that occur during the transportation, unloading, offloading, or any other process
Quality and Safety
Ensure that all processes conform to the customer and Newrest specifications
Enforce safety processes and legal requirements for transportation and other processes.
Human Resources
Interview and determine the individuals to join your department
Approve time off requests and other leaves of absences
Mentor and coach team members and provide corrective actions as required
Regular and timely attendance is expected for the position.
Perform other duties as assigned.
