The Assistant Director of Events supports the enrollment goals of the university in an important role within University Admissions with the primary responsibility of planning and executing small, mid and large-scale recruitment and yield events. This includes managing all event logistics, guest experience, and feedback & assessments to ensure a well-executed event both on-and-off campus by collaborating with admissions staff, academic colleges, student service staff, campus partners, and external vendors. This role will also support University Admissions’ daily campus visit operations and customer service needs. Additionally, they will also be responsible for tracking promotional items and marketing publication inventory. This person will report directly to the Senior Assistant Director of Marketing & Events to support the planning and execution of events.

Responsibilities And Duties

  • Plan and execute all recruitment & yield events (20+ a year) for University Admissions such as open houses, admitted student days, and hosting community partners. This includes managing all event logistics (location, catering, A/V, schedule, transportation, etc.) to ensure a well-executed event and collaborating with admissions staff, academic colleges, student service staff, and other campus partners. Advocate and provide leadership with direction on events, organize materials, manage event budgets, create & manage all event registrations and collect and analyze visit data to improve overall event experiences. Event audiences include (but not limited to) high school students, transfer students, graduate students, international students and high school counselors.
  • Assist with daily campus visits & group visits including welcoming guests, overseeing student ambassadors, answering student and family questions, and executing tour operations.
  • Manage and organize promotional items and publications in the various storage locations. Complete a quarterly inventory count of all items and keep track of the amounts. Manage requests from members of the admissions department and completing them within a timely manner. Order additional promotional items as assigned.
  • Counsel prospective, newly admitted and currently enrolled freshman students on admission to TU. Represent TU by providing excellent customer service and answer questions for the freshman population via phone, email, and in-person. Understand admissions policies and requirements to ensure success within University Admissions. Provide information presentations during campus visits when needed.
  • Complete general admissions duties including, but not limited to, customer service, applicant processing, holistic review, on-campus events, special projects, campus committees, and any other duties as assigned.

Telework may be available for this position up to two days per week following the completion of 90 days of service in good standing.

Required

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience.
  • The position requires excellent customer service & event planning skills. In addition, the candidate should possess excellent communication skills.
  • Must pay attention to detail and possess strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to problem solve, work collaboratively in a team, innovative mindset and positive attitude required.
  • The successful candidate will be a team player with a strong work ethic, interested in and attentive to cross-cultural communication and someone who actively contributes to the office welfare in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Must possess strong analytical skills and the ability to work independently.
  • The familiarity and use of technology is critical to the success of this position and the overall operation of the Office of University Admissions.

Preferred

  • Event, visit, and/or tour management experience in a higher education or hospitality setting.
  • Student/professional supervisory experience.

Salary and Benefits

$59,000 annually and full University benefits that include 22 days of annual leave, up to 15 holidays, personal and sick days; excellent health, life, and retirement plans; and tuition remission.
