Job Description

SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under direction of the Director of Grants Development and Management, participates and assists in developing and administering the program for securing grant support for various System programs from public and private sector funding sources. Assists the Director or designee in coordinating and evaluating procedures and systems for grant activity within designated areas of responsibility.


QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB: (In addition to the minimum qualifications as per the corporate job description)

1. Assists with the management of research agreements process including initiation, negotiation, amendments, and closeouts.

2. Supports the Director by working closely with Office of Legal Affairs (OLA) to ensure terms are compliant with institutional standards like (including but not limited to): indemnification, publication rights, intellectual property, and data ownership.

3. Has expertise in federal, state, city, and institutional policies to draft the appropriate type of agreement.

4. Has a fundamental understanding of federal and local regulations as they relate specifically to HIPPA/the disclosure of PHI in the research context.

5. Possesses a working knowledge of both federal and institutional-specific requirements for the approval and implementation of human subjects’ research.

6. Assists in the negotiation of budgets with the sponsors to cover Health + Hospitals costs associated with the trial.

7. Frequently communicates with facility research administrators and study teams to ensure the implementation of the trial is congruent with the overarching research agreements and goals of the System.

8. Serves as the back-up to the Director in overseeing the grants and contracts process.

9. Facilitates the execution process of CDAs, CTAs, Amendments, Grant Applications, Subaward Agreements, BAAs, and DUAs, etc.

10. Supports the Director with annual audits, reporting, and other requirements as needed.

11. Conducts applicable training as needed.

12. Performs other duties related to the mission of the office.

Minimum Qualifications

*1. Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in Public or Business Administration or a related discipline and 3 (three) years of progressively responsible experience in areas relating to public administration and/or health care planning and administration, grant writing and work related to grants management and development within these fields.

2. Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in disciplines, as listed


Department Preferences

• At least 8 years working on the grants and contracts management process in the healthcare context, with a preference for at least 3 years to be in human subjects’ research.

• At least 3 years working in the public or municipal sector or an equivalent setting.
