Assistant Controller

MaxHome is hiring a full-time Assistant Controller to join our team in New Orleans, LA. In this position you will delegate, supervise, and participate in day-to-day accounting tasks, oversee the recording, tracking, and reporting of financial information in the general ledger, train, and motivate accounting staff members, develop and implement department controls and procedures, and ensure that the department operates efficiently without sacrificing accuracy.

What You'll Do:

• Supervision of 2 accounting employees
• Adhere to proper accounting methods, polices and principles
• Ensure that AP and Bank transactions are recording timely and in accordance with company policy
• Approve and release daily AP bills and banking transactions entries, including approving bills to be paid weekly on a weekly basis
• Preparation of all monthly Balance Sheet reconciliations, including bank reconciliations
• Investigating and timely resolve of all reconciling items
• Update and maintain company asset and depreciation schedules
• Prepare month end journal entries with sufficient supporting documents
• Review and approve the journal entries of staff accountants
• Track and reconcile inventory in the system
• Assist in maintaining and posting of monthly accruals and prepayments
• Support online banking processes – positive pay, ACH initiation, and exceptions
• Recommends, designs, and implements any necessary department or accounting controls
• Assist with month end closing to prepare monthly financial statements
• Assist with the annual audit process
• Respond to requests from the Controller or anyone of the management team on a timely basis
• Support the Controller with ad-hoc projects as they arise

What You'll Bring:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required
• CPA preferred
• Has supervised a team of 5 or more people
• 10+ Years of leadership experience
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel
• Excellent attention to detail
• Strong organizational ability
• Work effectively on a team and across the organization
• Ability to multitask and prioritize to consistently meet deadlines
• Effective corporate communication skills
