- Position Summary
Fisk University is a member of the NAIA and the HBCU Athletic Conference. Fisk University is committed to student success in the classroom as well as in competition and expects to be competitive in those sports that it offers.
- Essential Functions
- Recruitment of student-athletes.
- Provide monthly recruiting updates to the Director of Athletics and Admissions designee.
- Assist in the preparation and execution of practices and game plans.
- Prepare team travel arrangements for team away games.
- Attend and work all home games, matches, and meets when not competing.
- Work with Sports Information Director to manage home game set-up.
- Attend staff, admissions, athletic conferences, and institutional meetings/events when required.
- Manage player develop skill development, team management, service and outreach projects, and academic monitoring.
- Promote and foster a positive learning experience for student-athletes.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited university, in a directly related field is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of progressively more responsible professional experience in the area of athletics and coaching is desired.
- Proven ability to recruit, develop, and retain high-quality student athletes from diverse backgrounds.
- Exceptional and effective communication skill
- Possess knowledge of fundamental techniques and skills of Basketball and be able to demonstrate and instruct those fundamentals, techniques, and skills in such a manner as to be understood by student-athletes in the program.
- Able to professionally communicate effectively verbally and in writing, interpersonally, as well as public speaking.
- Possess the desire to assist student-athletes in their development both athletically and academically.
- Able to work within the framework of a team-oriented work environment.
- Able to work flexible hours.
- Possess commitment to the student-athlete experience.
