In the buying realm, the Assistant Buyer will consult catalogs, internet sources, and suppliers to gather pricing, specifications, marketing images, and delivery dates. They will collaborate with the Lead Merchandise Supervisor to create and maintain seasonal fashion boards, while also recapitulating and analyzing products and categories on a regular basis. Inventory management tasks will include replenishing basic stock at all outlets, managing transfers between departments, establishing par levels, and participating in physical inventories and reconciliation processes.
Merchandising responsibilities entail partnering with the Lead Sales Supervisor and Lead Visual Supervisor to maintain store visual standards, attending weekly walkthroughs to share sales insights and product knowledge, and assisting in the development of retail standards, policies, and procedures manuals.
Operationally, the Assistant Buyer will contribute to the development of retail standards, policies, and procedures manuals, collaborate on social media and marketing calendars, manage webpage content to ensure currency, and assist with the development and management of embroidery, personalization, and corporate sales programs.
For special events, the Assistant Buyer will source new and innovative vendors, assist in the development of special product launches, and participate in event planning and execution.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment, self-motivation, and proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and inventory software. Additionally, they should have a strong retail background that includes 3-5 years experience in buying and management, preferably with experience in store management or small luxury boutiques, and an associate's degree in a relevant field is preferred. Flexibility in working hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and willingness to travel to overnight markets to develop vendor relationships are also necessary attributes.
