Assistant Boys Soccer Coach

JOB SUMMARY: To instruct all students in the fundamental skills and knowledge of the sport or activity. To provide an atmosphere for successful individual development through monitoring, evaluating, and reinforcing.

Season Runs February- May

Performance Responsibilities

  • Ability to develop drill and practice activities that teach and enhance individual/team skill development that makes up the game.
  • Develop and maintain an inventory list of equipment.
  • Prepares and implements a schedule of checking out, maintaining, and checking in equipment.
  • Ability to plan and enforce appropriate safety and health rules and regulations.
  • Ability to develop a supervision plan that ensures the safety and welfare of students at all times: locker room, trips, practices, etc.
  • Maintains confidentiality about students and others.
  • Presents a professional appearance.
  • Ability to be an effective communicator with all audiences - players, parents, supervisors, peers and spectators.
  • Ability to receive, understand and follow directions.
  • Be able to model/demonstrate activities and equipment used to develop basic skills or physical condition.
  • Ability to observe, diagnose, and prescribe appropriate remediation activities during practice and game conditions for players and team.
  • Must know and be able to apply the developmental stages of each point of the game to the needs and ability levels of the team/players.
  • Assimilate innovations and adapt to changes when applicable.
  • Establish fundamental philosophy for activity or sport.
  • Instruct assistants in techniques necessary to meet philosophy objectives.
  • Analyze and evaluate sports effectiveness.
  • Responsible for providing training rules and expectations and seeing that rules are taught to each participant.
  • Assist in the scheduling of the activity or sport.
  • Responsible for documenting the state and district’s requirements for physical examinations, parental consent and eligibility.
  • Be involved in the hiring of assistant coaches directly under your supervision and indirectly through input at other levels.

21. To develop and follow a budget in line with district’s guidelines and expectations.

  • Take responsibility for public relations with all audiences.
  • Manage through appropriate selection, assigning duties and responsibilities, and monitoring of assistants.
  • Support the philosophies of Park County School District #6.
  • Park County School District #6 Head Coaches assist in making recommendations/hiring of Middle School level coaches.
  • May be responsible for supervising students on out-of-town activities. This may involve staying overnight.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to sit on a bus for extended periods of travel.
  • Ability to carry and/or provide aid to an injured player.

Soccer

  • Ability to coach at a high intensity level during practices and games.
  • Ability to move quickly from drill to drill with a definite direction and focus.
  • Ability to remove an injured player from the field.

Qualifications

  • Possess all certificates required for the State of Wyoming
  • Possess current CPR certification
  • Possess current First Aid certification
  • Have fundamental knowledge of the sport
  • Care and Prevention of Athletic Injuries course.
  • Ability to select from a variety of instruction methods to teach activity objectives.
