Primary Job Function
The Reynoldsburg City Schools AssistantDirector of Athletics has the responsibility of assisting the Athletic Director in running an athletic program that develops and respects all participants, promotes the program as an integral part of the education process, and supports the mission and vision for the District’s Athletic program as well as building trusting relationships between staff, students, parents, and community members.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Three (3) years of increasingly responsible coaching or related experience working with scholastic athletic programs
Able to work prolonged, irregular hours.
Able to work on weekends and other various times during the day
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Primary functions may include the following duties, responsibilities, skills, abilities, and other characteristics. Leadership
Ensure that the athletes and coaches are displaying sportsmanship and representing their school and community well
At the direction of the Athletic Director, all areas of the athletic department are being supervised, supported, and monitored
May be responsible for assisting with the hiring, mentoring, and evaluating of coaches
Responsible for ensuring football Fridays are supervised and supported to enable a safe environment for coaches and players. This includes but is not limited to:
Home and away teams have equal playing fields
Meeting needs of all game officials
Preparing game scripts
Ensuring everyone who needs to know of any changes in game day procedures
Responsible for securing all game contracts between contest officials and the district.
Responsible for assigning game officials
Responsible for junior high athletics. This includes but is not limited to:
Scheduling games and practices
Transportation requests and shuttles
Building/ Facility usage, District scheduling module
Tryouts
Coach contact information
Dragonfly – entering schedules
Changes/ Cancellations
Attending Junior High AD meetings
Post-season play
Officials on game day
Mediating disputes
Participation fees
Physicals & Final forms
Hometown Ticketing
Gear & Equipment
Maintenance requests
Eligibility and grade checks
End-of-season awards
Communication and Support
Responsible for supporting the RCS athletic program in whatever way the Director needs.
Responsible for supporting the academic progress of all athletes through the monitoring of their progress toward obtaining their diploma
Supports the following sports
Girls’ tennis
Boys’ and girls’ soccer
Supervise JV and Freshman Saturday games
Support the Athletic Booster Club
Attend OCC AD and all executive meetings
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
Knowledge of athletics, athletic programs, and physical fitness
Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations regarding school district athletic programs, safety and health, and other areas (RCS, OHSAA, NCAA, NAIA)
Knowledge of industry best practices
Skilled at effective verbal and written communication
Skilled in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
Skilled in collaboration and decision-making, seeking consensus whenever possible
Skilled in conflict resolution
Ability to understand, apply, and use personal computers and software applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Ability to “think outside the box”
Ability to evaluate, develop, and implement athletic programs, activities, and events, and make effective recommendations related to those areas
Ability to analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action
Ability to interpret, apply, and explain rules, regulations, policies, and procedures

Ability to organize multiple tasks and conflicting time constraints.

Physical Demands & Working Conditions
Physical Demands – While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate with others. The employee is required to sit or stand and move around for extended periods of time. While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to push, pull, lift, and carry over 25 pounds on occasion.
Working Conditions – The employee in this position may experience occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue. The employee may also be required to interact with unruly children.
