Assistant Athletic Band Director (Class V + 15 days)

This supplemental duty position reports to the appropriate building Principal.
Qualifications
Licensed/Certified teacher in the school where the activity occurs is preferred.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work effectively with students, educators, and parents.
Organizational and problem solving skills.
Expertise and experience in a selected academic (department), sport, content area or grade level preferred.
Current BCI/FBI.
Alternatives to the above qualifications as Board of Education may find appropriate.
General Responsibilities
Attend and supervise all activities associated with the program.
Assist the head director as needed with the collection and expenditure of funds associated with the program.
Collaborate with the head director to schedule all events for the program including arranging and/or scheduling building use and transportation when needed.
Distribute all rules and schedules associated with participation in the activity.
Coordinate permission forms.
Promote the purposes of the activity.
Present to the building Principal a yearly plan of events, meetings, practices, or activities.
Specific Responsibilities
The Assistant Athletic band director attends all marching band functions including but not limited to: summer practices, parades, events, band camp, evening practices, football games, band shows, and homecoming events. The assistant may teach sectionals or lead rehearsals as agreed upon by the he/she and the head director. The assistant may also assist the head director with organizational and clerical duties as agreed upon by both people. The assistant director is not expected to also attend pep band games, but may step in if agreed upon by both directors. In addition to the compensation that this supplemental contract provides, this individual will also receive 15 paid days of extended time.
