Assistant/Associate Teaching Professor

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Notre Dame invites applications for a non-tenured instructor at the Assistant/Associate Teaching Professor rank. The department is especially interested in candidates who are interested in and capable of teaching introductory Computer Science and Engineering courses to both majors and non-majors, along with core courses such as Discrete Math, Theory of Computing, Algorithms, or Programming Paradigms.

The primary responsibility for this position is to teach two Computer Science and Engineering courses a semester. While these courses will typically be core or required undergraduate courses, this position will also provide the opportunity to develop complementary electives in areas related to the candidate's specialization and interests.

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering offers Ph.D., MS, and undergraduate degrees. Teaching professors are expected to excel in classroom teaching, engage in development of students outside the classroom, such as advising student clubs, providing individual mentoring, or supervising undergraduate research, and serve the Department and the University. Qualifications

Candidates must have an expectation of completing a Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related field by August 1, 2024. Applicants should have prior teaching experience as a teaching assistant, lead instructor, or other comparable experience. Candidates who are ABD would be appointed at the Instructor rank, and candidates who have completed their PhD will be appointed at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank.
