Assistant/Associate Professor of Mathematics

Job Summary

The Assistant/Associate Professor of Mathematics is a full-time, tenure track position in the Mathematics Program in the Department of Natural and Computational Sciences in the College of Arts and Sciences.

Duties And Responsibilities

Under the direction of the department chair:

  • Teach undergraduate level Mathematics and related courses in a face-to-face, online, or hybrid format.
  • Teach courses as assigned by the department chair per term and maintain office hours (a minimum of 10 hours per week).
  • Advise students; actively participate in recruitment of students.
  • Exhibit the potential to carry out research of good quality and strengthen the program.
  • Participate in the solicitation of external funding.
  • Participate in the continuous assessment of student learning outcomes.
  • Review and plan curricula.
  • Serve on departmental, college, and university level committees.
  • Participate in community service and outreach programs on behalf of the institution.
  • Provide services to the university and professional organizations.
  • Assist students in acquiring Internship and job placement.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Ph.D. in Mathematics.
  • Coursework or inclination in research and teaching differential equations, numerical analysis, abstract algebra, probability, statistics, and data science.
  • Preference will be given to candidates who have graduate-level coursework in statistics, data science, or related areas.
  • 2-3 years of experience teaching at the university level.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent analytical, oral, written communication skills and teamwork.
  • Demonstrated success in research and scholarly activities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with traditional and nontraditional students.
