Description
The English/Creative Writing Program at Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri, invites applications for a full-time Assistant or Associate Professor of English/Creative Writing beginning August 2024. Join a vibrant, committed writing and literary community dedicated to developing and empowering women’s voices through creative writing and literary scholarship. The program seeks an engaged teacher who is also an active writer. Candidates should be able to teach a broad range of literature as well as creative writing workshops, including multi-genre introductory creative writing.

Responsibilities
- Lead a diverse array of creative writing workshops/classes that may include fiction, creative nonfiction, memoir, poetry, playwriting, etc.
- Instruct literature courses.
- Provide academic guidance to majors.
- Collaborate on the planning and execution of the program’s themed Writer Retreat each semester.
- Assist with committee work for senior capstone projects.
- Contribute actively to the creative and intellectual vitality of the English/Creative Writing program.
- Oversee program assessment alongside the Director of Assessment.
- Ph.D. or M.F.A. in Creative Writing, English, Literature, or a closely related field.
- Prior experience in higher education teaching, showcasing excellence in pedagogy and student engagement.
- Demonstrable track record of creative accomplishments.
- Scholarly publications alongside creative works.
- Experience coordinating literary events and activities.
- Proficiency in curriculum design.
