Assistant/Associate Planner

Urban Planning Concepts, Inc. is a leading land use planning firm based in Santa Maria, CA. We specialize in providing a full range of land use planning services to a diverse range of clients throughout California, including residential, commercial, and agricultural users, as well as government agencies. Our team has extensive knowledge of local and regional land use regulations and CEQA, and we pride ourselves on our high professional standards and commitment to completing projects on time and within budget.

This is a full-time hybrid role for an Assistant/Associate Planner. The Assistant/Associate Planner will assist in the day-to-day tasks associated with land use planning, including conducting research, preparing reports, assisting with public meetings and hearings, and coordinating with other professionals in the field. This role is primarily located in Santa Maria, CA, with flexibility for some remote work.

• Knowledge of land use planning principles and regulations
• Excellent research and analytical skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software
• Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Geography, or a related field
• Experience with GIS and other planning tools is a plus
• Experience in the California land use planning process is a plus
