Asset Manager
Our Client is a leading provider of asset management and optimization services in North America's energy sector, specializing in wholesale energy distribution and management. Our Client has a rich history dating back to the pioneering days of Citizens Power in 1989, and currently operates as a subsidiary under Mitsubishi Corporation, offering integrated solutions across various industries including industrial goods, retail, new energy, infrastructure, finance, and technology.
Role Summary:
Our Client seeks a Power Quantitative Analyst to join its Analytics team based in Boston, MA. This role supports the development and execution of model-driven trading strategies within the wholesale power markets. The ideal candidate will possess strong quantitative and data analytics skills, demonstrating expertise in system modeling. The role requires both independent work and effective collaboration across Analytics, Trading, IT, and Risk teams, reporting directly to the head of the Energy Trading and Analytics team.
Responsibilities:
- Identify opportunities in wholesale power markets for the development of trading strategies.
- Utilize diverse datasets to create coherent, fundamentals-driven models of supply and demand in regional and macro power markets, leveraging advanced forecasting techniques and infrastructure intelligence.
- Develop models that generate commercially viable forecasts and trading signals.
- Implement reliable trading models into proprietary software for integration into our Client's model-driven trading platform.
- Support daily execution of trading model portfolio and monitor portfolio P&L.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Science, or a related quantitative field required; graduate degree preferred.
- Familiarity with optimization techniques, statistical analysis, regression, machine learning, and/or power systems modeling preferred.
- Experience with wholesale nodal power markets, economic dispatch, and load flow analysis tools such as Powerworld desirable.
- Proficiency in quantitative modeling using Python, R, MATLAB, or similar tools in Windows and/or Linux environments.
- Strong attention to detail, diligence, curiosity, confidence, and creativity.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Understanding of physical and financial electricity, congestion, natural gas, emissions, coal, REC, and market design in at least one of the following North American ISOs: PJM, CAISO, NYISO, MISO, SPP, ISO-NE, or ERCOT.
