About This Role

TaskForce seeks a passionate Arts and Culture Commissions Director - 2024 Election for its cultural strategies to mobilize voters in the 2024 election. The Arts and Culture Commissions Director - 2024 Election for our Culture 2024 campaign will be responsible for working with a team of curators, commissioners, producers, and regional cultural organizers to commission hundreds of regional creative projects.

Key tasks for this role are to drive the commissioning of high-impact projects that align with our GOTV program, actively manage our team of Regional Commissioners, and drive alignment between the Regional Commissioners, our Cultural Council of advisors, and our Production team to drive maximum impact in moving our audiences to vote. The Arts and Culture Commissions Director - 2024 Election will identify new and established creatives with support of regional advisors to commission for our Culture 2024 GOTV campaign, review and approve artists and commissions from the Regional Commissioners, drive cross-functional alignment, and collaborate with our Regional and National Culture Council of advisors in ideating new, innovative, and impactful cultural interventions.

Candidates must have experience engaging and supporting a wide range of artists and creatives, be adept at writing creative briefs, serve as a creative partner with creatives and artists, and have the ability to package creative projects for transfer to our production staff.

The Arts and Culture Commissions Director - 2024 Election will report to TaskForce's founder and Chief Cultural Organizer (CCO) and will be part of a 15+ person Culture 2024 engagement team. This position is remote but may require some travel.

Term of Contract

This is a short-term contract ending Nov 30th.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve on the Culture 2024 Leadership Team helping shape national and regional cultural strategies
  • Develop strategies with the CCO, CEO, Culture Council advisor, Producers, and other partners to ensure successful outreach and engagement of creatives, and the commission of a wide range of creative cultural projects regionally and nationally
  • Oversee the engagement, creative exploration, and onboarding of cultural creatives
  • Work with other team leads including our Head of Production, Regional Producers, and Head of Cultural Organizing to ensure the successful completion of the creative commission
  • Work with our Head of Operations to ensure proper contracting and payment for all cultural commissions
  • Work with our Creative team, Production team, and Electoral team to ensure efficient and effective processes are in place from ideation through amplification and scaled communications
  • Manage a team of 4-5 Regional Commissioners
  • Regularly brief CCO, COO, and Partners on progress, impact, and adjustments in strategy and tactics


About You

  • Exceptionally detail-oriented
  • Proactive and excellent communicator
  • A seasoned leader with experience working in a matrixed environment
  • Extensive experience working with creative professionals and artists
  • Well-versed in the creative process for a wide variety of cultural creatives (painting, design, poetry, dance, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of how to navigate and understand cultural networks
  • Working understanding of media, paid and organic, including influencer organizations, talent agencies, and social media trends
  • Ability to maintain confidential and sensitive information
  • Ability to work on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
  • Invested in TaskForce's vision and mission for positive change through arts and culture
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, to take direction, to receive feedback, and to execute tasks accordingly


Your Experience

  • 10+ years experience in commissioning art and creative assets
  • 8+ years managing in a matrixed environment


Salary And Compensation

$135,000 -$150,000 annually (compensation is prorated for contract term), commensurate with experience.
