About The Role


As the Area Manager, Retail, you will be the driving force behind delivering industry-leading customer experience and fostering a culture of operational excellence and leadership across our stores. Your leadership will be instrumental in creating a consistent brand story, presence and performance in a highly competitive retail market. You will lead a dedicated team across multiple locations, each reflecting goop's commitment to quality, experience, and wellness.


Responsibilities include:


  • Drive industry-leading customer experiences by offering personalized service, instilling an experience-first approach, understanding customer needs, and ensuring employees foster loyalty while boosting sales, all under the umbrella of delivering 'The Goop Experience'.
  • Lead with data, analyzing KPIs and performance metrics to not just meet but exceed weekly and monthly sales goals.
  • Ensure regular and purposeful communication with stores, both in-person and virtually, focusing weekly discussions on performance and strategic operational objectives.
  • Tightly manage labor and expenses to fulfill customer expectations while maintaining fiscal health.
  • Hire, develop and train exceptional teams with training and coaching that embed Goop's values and brand essence into each member.
  • Conduct weekly strategy sessions with the Store Managers to align on goals and explore opportunities, providing actional feedback when needed.
  • Maintain clear operational practices and update processes as needed, in partnership with the Retail Operations Manager.
  • Implement rigorous inventory management to keep in-store stock levels accurate and aligned with customer demand.
  • Collect and evaluate detailed monthly feedback on product outcomes and customer desires, optimizing the in-store replenishment process to reduce stock discrepancies.
  • Work in unison with the Retail Visual Manager to seamlessly integrate new products and uphold store appearance.
  • Communicate and enact corporate strategies whilst also giving a distinct voice to stores in gathering and relaying crucial feedback.


Qualifications & Experience


  • 10+ years of experience in retail management, with 2-3+ years as a multi-unit leader, preferably in apparel and beauty sectors.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop store managers and sales teams across multiple locations.
  • Track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets, managing P&L statements, and implementing strategies to improve store performance.
  • Expertise in visual merchandising, stock management, and optimizing product assortments to maximize sales.
  • Ability to analyze sales reports, market trends, and KPIs to identify opportunities for growth and improvement.
  • Effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with stakeholders, staff, and customers.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite Outlook, TEAMS, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, Square POS, Slack.


FAQ


  • Compensation: $100,000 - $125,000 + Equity. This is a full-time, exempt role, requiring a flexible schedule when needed, and up to 50% travel. Please note that this range represents the low and high end of the anticipated base salary range for the Los Angeles, CA based position. Goop, in good faith, reasonably expects to pay the position within this salary range. Goop provides the salary range in compliance with all applicable federal, state and local laws. The actual base salary will depend on numerous factors such as: experience, training, knowledge and skills, and if the location of the job changes.
