In addition to the Basic Education Requirement (in the Education section below), to qualify for this position you must meet the requirements below. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
To qualify for GS-12, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level:

If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show that the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs. These education credentials must be deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university. All degrees must have been received in the year of, or any year subsequent to the original date of accreditation.

- Manage the NASA Goddard archival activities by appraising, accessioning, processing, and describing analog and digital records in the NASA Goddard Archives.
- Manage physical and intellectual control over the collection to ensure the proper management, use, and access to the collection.
- Appraise NASA-wide documents for historical value to NASA Goddard; evaluate reports, memos, photographic prints, working files, etc. and determine which should be accessioned into the NASA Goddard Archives.
- Assist the Chief Archivist in developing policy, documentation, and workflows relating to NASA-wide archival functions.
- Create and maintain electronic finding aids according to NASA Archives standards. Provide guidance to NASA personnel, historians, scholars, researchers, and others to ensure optimal use of electronic finding aids for historical research purposes.
- Conduct extensive or intensive research on the materials and/or in secondary sources to establish facts surrounding the materials, artifacts, and/or documentation.
- Provide reference and research services in response to requests for information related to the NASA Archives or NASA History topics.
- Participate as NASA Goddard's representative in Agency, inter-agency, professional, and other external events relating to archives, history, and aerospace activities.

- Utilizing archival principles and practices to maintain and administer record keeping systems (e.g. appraising, accessioning, processing, or describing analog and digital records);
- Contributing to the creation and maintenance of electronic finding aids in accordance with archival standards;
- Conducting research and assisting with writing historical documentation related to archival records.
Education
Basic Requirements
- You must have successfully completed a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree that included a major in archival science; or a degree in a related field that includes 18 semester hours or 27 quarter hours in archival science, history and/or in political science or government, and 12 semester hours or 18 quarter hours in one or any combination of the following: archival science, history, American civilization, economics, political science, public administration, or government.
- Have a combination of education and experience - at least 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours that included courses as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
