Position Summary
This role provides comprehensive support to Project Coordinators, Project Architects, and Project Managers throughout all project phases. This position provides significant exposure opportunities towards NCARB related hours for licensure.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
The following inexhaustive list of duties represent a sample of work routinely performed by this role:
Assists project managers and designers in developing project documents for bidding and construction.
Assists with projects from beginning to end, during the Design Development, Construction Documents, and Construction Administration phases.
Prepares presentation materials such as conceptual drawings, 3D renderings and visualizations, and digital 3D and physical models.
Develops and modifies design and technical solutions throughout all phases of a project.
Participates and contributes to design discussions, idea generation, and design work in drawing, model, and 3D image formats.
Works closely with team members and assists in completing projects on aggressive schedules by meeting deadlines within expected time and budget constraints.
Generates revisions and corrections from outline mock-ups, redlined drawings, and project document sets.
Attends client meetings to observe the overall process and develop presentation skills.
Participates in construction site visits to better understand the construction process.
Provides support for any tasks required for the successful completion of the project.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications And Experience
Required Education, Certifications, or Licensure
Bachelor of Architecture (5-year program) and/or Bachelor of Science in Architecture from an NAAB accredited institution
Ability to maintain a valid driver’s license and be insurable under business insurance policies
Preferred Education, Certifications, Or Licensure
Master of Architecture Degree
Pursuing or interest in pursuing LEED Credential
Required Background And Experience
0-3 years of architectural experience
Ability to travel overnight to project sites via regular commercial travel means
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, excellent organizational abilities, and technical skills
Desire to work in all phases of the design process from project planning and concepts through working drawings, specifications, and construction administration.
Willingness to learn and adapt to change
Demonstrated ability to interact in a cooperative and effective manner
Self-motivated, able to multi-task, self-starting, and strong service orientation
Ability to work well with others under deadline situations and respond to changes in priorities
Ability to work independently, take initiative, set priorities and see projects through to completion
Preferred Background And Experience
Previous internship experience in an architectural firm is a plus
Required Technical Experience
Proficiency in the use of AutoCad, Revit, and other BIM design technologies.
Working knowledge of SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office
Working Environment
This is a hybrid position that will require some (≤ 15%) travel to headquarters, client project sites, or conferences. When in office, the environment is temperature controlled subject to minimal exposure to outside elements. When traveling to project sites, this role will be exposed to various environments, terrains, temperatures, and projects under construction.
Physical Demands
Sitting/Standing: This role is generally sedentary performing sitting work utilizing technological office equipment including a laptop, mouse, keyboard, computer monitors, telephones, and scanners, copiers, and fax machines.
Walking: This role requires the ability to move about inside the office to access technological equipment required for the role.
Stooping/Kneeling/Crouching/Crawling: This role may require stooping to reload printer trays with print paper.
Using Hands/Fingers: This role constantly operates technological office equipment such as laptop, mouse, keyboard, computer monitors, telephones, and scanners, copiers, and fax machines.
Talking/Hearing: This role requires constant communication with others in the organization to exchange information, review information, and make decisions about information.
Seeing: This role requires the ability to see, view, and distinguish all aspects of construction.
Carrying/Lifting: This role requires the ability to lift up to 15lbs to transport technological office equipment to and from various workspaces.
