This position supports the Bureau of Land Management Ely District Office. ?The BLM Experienced Services Program is a unique partnership created to help solve the workforce issues facing government agencies. The program connects experienced workers (age 55+) to the BLM to provide scientific, technical, and administrative support. ?BLM ESP positions are meant to provide temporary, project-based support. This position is currently funded for an estimate of 149 weeks. ?A background security investigation may be required prior to the start date. Only those positions with 30+ hours per week are eligible for health insurance benefits; all positions will accrue sick leave. ?The experienced workers participating in the Program are referred to as ?Enrollees? and are not employees of the BLM or NEW Solutions. NEW Solutions is the ESP non-governmental organization responsible for administrative aspects of the program, and the Enrollees work under BLM direction to assist the Agency staff in carrying out their mission. BLM ESP Enrollees benefit from the opportunity to keep technical skills current; to access new training opportunities; to engage in gainful project-based positions; and to undertake meaningful tasks using their experience and talent to contribute to the environment, the national economy, and their own financial security.

Qualifications

MA/MS Degree in Cultural Resources Related

  • Knowledge of all aspects of the BLM Archaeology program.
  • Experience required with Windows, MS Excel, MS Word
  • MS SharePoint
  • MS Teams

Duties

The work will include providing technical guidance for contract preparation and oversight, report and cultural site review, data input for cultural sites, areas inventoried, mentoring and organization of cultural files, maps, and data. Enrollee will assist in maintaining and updating cultural resource files within the Ely District, and provide cultural resource information to other staff specialists. The enrollee will assist with reviewing site forms as assigned (number of forms will vary with each project) from cultural inventory contracts, recording areas inventoried, and updating databases or files showing areas inventoried. Enrollee will assist with completing ongoing projects within the fuels program. Enrollee will also assist with cultural resource report backlog that may be identified.

  • Health and Safety Considerations: All BLM Training for driving 4x4 as well as UTV.
  • Physical requirements: Must be able to work in an office setting using a computer and telephone. Field work, if required, will be minimal and will be under the supervision of the Technical Advisor.
