Application Support Technician

The Lansing School District serves over 10,000 PreK-12 students across 25 school buildings in the increasingly diverse urban community of Lansing, MI. In pursuit of this mission, we are hiring an Applications Support Tech. An Applications Support Tech plays a crucial role in keeping businesses running smoothly by troubleshooting and resolving software issues, ensuring seamless user experiences. They are the heroes behind the scenes, quickly diagnosing problems and implementing solutions to minimize downtime. Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum associate degree in a Technical Field OR certifications like CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE), etc
  • Minimum 1-3 years of IT experience
  • Strong customer service skills to assist and support users with patience and empathy, ensuring a positive user experience
  • Alignment with Lansing School District's mission and values


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor (4-year) degree, with a technical major (Preferred)
  • Four to six years IT experience including, but not limited to:
  • Windows 10/11
  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Multiple Browser platforms,
  • Google Apps, and
  • Office 365
  • Remote Desktop Tools
  • Ticketing Software


Job Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and fix software problems reported by users, ensuring quick and effective solutions to minimize downtime
  • Provide assistance and training to users on how to effectively use software applications, addressing any questions or concerns
  • Regularly check the performance of applications, identifying and addressing any potential issues before they affect users
  • Work closely with software developers to report bugs, suggest improvements, and test new features or updates
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of troubleshooting steps, solutions, and standard operating procedures for future reference
  • Learn and grow by incorporating feedback from colleagues, managers, and professional development sessions
  • Build relationships with colleagues and other stakeholders to ensure a safe, welcoming, and collaborative work environment
  • Other duties as assigned to best support the Lansing School District mission
