Application Scientist

Job Summary:

As an application scientist you will be at the forefront of applying cutting-edge microscopy technologies for human disease research, drug discovery assays, and disease relevant biomarker study. You will be collaborating with customers to carry out exciting cell and tissue proteomics studies. This position is an onsite position that is based in Syncell Laboratories at 200 Dexter Ave., Watertown, MA.

Responsibilities:

Work with supervisor and colleagues to obtain exclusive training for Microscoop system hardware, software, kits, peptide purification, and initiation of proteomics analysis, focusing on microscopy-guided proteomics applications, sample preparation techniques, and image analysis methodologies.

Collaborate with supervisor and researchers to develop experimental processes to achieve specific study goals

Perform cell culture, prepare cell slides or/and tissue sections, carry out immunofluorescence staining, microscopy, image processing, protein pull-down, protein measurement, and purification

Data processing and proteomic analysis

Communicate with collaborators/customers to advance project plans

Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree or above in biology, cell biology, biochemistry (for biologists) or related fields

• 2+ years of experience in immunofluorescence staining, microscopy imaging, and basic image analysis is required

• Hands-on experience in cell culture, protein quantification, proteome study, cell-based or biochemical assays.

• Ability to work on multiple projects with evolving priorities and deadlines

• Ability to create clear reports and documentation

• Self-initiative and able to work independently in a fast-paced team environment
