The role starts early in our process with prospective customers to understand their current manufacturing processes, their challenges and goals; to understand their manufacturing operations as well as they do. Based on this knowledge the Application Engineer’s role is to find ways to solve and improve their operations. This requires a deep technical and operational of both the Chef Robotics Systems and the customers operations. The role includes engagement with the customers engineers and manufacturing leaders to create a models of how the Chef Robotics’ System would be built into the customer manufacturing line, using these models to build an ROI case by quantifying the manufacturing process improvements that the robots can achieve creating the documents and sales presentations that shows the customer the benefits Essential duties and responsibilities include: Lead the in-field deployment of Chef Systems at customer sites through Site Acceptance Test. Collaborate with Engineering and Project Management to prioritize and collect customer feature requests and requirements Work with Sales and Business Development to help close a customer addressing customer feature requests, questions, technical risks, and overall get buy-in from a technology perspective. Once the system is deployed- help lead customer success for that stakeholder so that they have a wonderful experience and buy more robots. Preparing and developing technical presentations to explain our company's products or services to customers. Discussing equipment needs and system requirements with customers and engineers. Collaborating with sales teams to understand customer requirements and provide sales support. Researching, developing and modifying products to meet customers' technical requirements and needs. Identifying areas for improvement and communicating these issues as well as possible solutions to upper management. Training other members of the sales team on the technical aspects of the company's products and services. You You are passionate about robotics, manufacturing automation, and working with customers. You have a strong track record of successful engagements with customers from pre-sales engineering through deployment. You know how to manage your time, are self-driven, capable of figuring out what needs to be done, scheduling, and executing to customer needs. You know how to deal with difficult situations when customers are not satisfied, when your company or product is challenged, you know how to manage the customer expectations and drive your company's organization to drive product or operational improvements. Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred or you should have the passion to learn the customers business, build domain knowledge to understand our customers' goals and operations. Since we have customers across the US and Canada this job requires up to 50% travel. And since you would be the face of the company dealing directly with customers this position requires excellent communication necessary for developing and maintaining good internal and external relations. You should have excellent interpersonal communications skills with the ability to handle high stakes, high pressure customer interactions in a professional and engaging manner. You have these skills and characteristics: BS, MS, in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. 3+ years' experience in a customer facing role. Prior experience in two or more of the following areas: machine learning, motion planning, robotics, computer vision, or control. Prior experience with at least one of the following areas: product engineering, applications engineering, solutions engineering, sales engineering, forward deployed engineering. Able to work independently and with minimal supervision. Familiar with Linux/Unix and or Robot Operating System (ROS). Recognize, communicate, and properly document product issues, complaints and improvements.
