Application Development Engineer

The Sr. Application Development Engineer provides technical support to sales representatives and customers, focusing on material recommendations and process optimization. This role involves proactive assistance with part and mold design, including Moldflow and FEA analyses, and reactive problem-solving to minimize customer downtime and scrap. Proficiency in CAE programs and lab testing is essential for resolving production issues.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers with process optimizations, product sampling, and troubleshooting.
• Characterize Moldflow and FEA data for new ETP materials.
• Support preliminary part and mold design concepts and participate in customer design reviews.
• Visit customer facilities to run materials and troubleshoot issues as needed.
• Collaborate with the commercial team to maintain and grow business with key customers.
• Perform Design of Experiments (DOE) for troubleshooting and process optimization.
• Enter and analyze technical service jobs, form recommendations, and review completed jobs and complaints.

Requirements

• B.S. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Plastics Engineering, Material Science, or a related field.
• Five plus years of experience with plastic compounds, providing technical support for physical properties and product requirements.
• Strong knowledge of injection molding, 3D printing, and extrusion manufacturing processes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Six Sigma Green Belt preferred.
• Ability to travel up to 30%.
