Application and Platform Operations Manager

Speridian is hiring a consultant to work with a State Agency in CA for a long-term project. The Application and Platform Operations Manager will be responsible for working with technical teams to utilize the tools and applications that are available to them. You will work with teams to gather data points on why an application or tool was procured and how it’s currently being utilized. You will work with procurement to understand contracts, cost, terms. Monitor performance and provide metrics on utilization and research alternative tools and products that might best solve the technical solution while optimizing costs. Strong experience with application performance management and monitoring.

• This is a remote role, however there will be meetings in the Sacramento area several times a year. Candidates must work between business hours in the pacific time zone. Ideally, the candidates will be based on in the West Coast.
  
  

Key Responsibilities:

• Solid technical understanding of what tools and applications are used for and the ability to suggest replacements and consolidations that will result in better usage and cost optimization
• Review licenses, tools and usage across the business units and use data and metrics to recommend best practices
• Develop and implement operational policies and procedures to ensure the stability and reliability of applications and platforms
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve operational issues and enhance tools and application performance
• Monitor and analyze performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and optimize operational processes
• Manage and report on application, cloud and SaaS cost and usage
• Drive operation excellent on planform and applications
• Set up and maintain regular KPI’s, MTTR’s, SLO’s, and error rates for all applications
• The ability to build and lead operations for Site Reliability Engineers
• Operational focus on continuous improvement
• Leadership abilities to bridge the teamwork between IT and DevOps
• Manage tools and technology procurements
  
  

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field or an additional 4+ years of experience in IT or development
• Proven experience in managing the operations of complex applications and platforms
• Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, cloud computing, and system monitoring tools
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
• Ability to translate technical concepts to business partners and their value
