Ashland has an exciting opportunity for an Analytical Scientist to join our Measurement Science Team at our Wilmington, DE Research Center. This is a very visible, significant role within the Company and global R&D. This on-site position will report to a Principal Scientist and group leader within Measurement Science.

Ashland has an exciting opportunity for an Analytical Scientist to join our Measurement Science Team at our Wilmington, DE Research Center. This is a very visible, significant role within the Company and global R&D. This on-site position will report to a Principal Scientist and group leader within Measurement Science.
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Interface with internal and external personnel as a hands-on analytical scientist utilizing GC, GC-MS, HPLC and HPLC-MS technologies to support Ashland’s growth strategy
- Hands-on wet chemistry and basic synthesis with a focus on carbohydrate chemistry and analysis
- Compile, analyze and interpret analytical data. Develop structure/property/performance relationships.
- Present study results to internal and external audiences
- Manage multiple projects, estimate timelines and resources, and coordinate efforts to meet timeline.
- Work closely with other R&D sites and technical support teams to solve challenging technical problems for customers.
- Actively contribute to the organizational goals by taking initiative, executing on goals and focusing on performance and safety
- Improve the organization capacity and capabilities through building collaborative relationships, optimizing diverse talent and utilizing positive communications and influence with others
- MS degree in a relevant area of Chemistry is a requirement; PhD preferred
- Strong competency in mass spectrometry
- Experience with various chromatographic techniques (GC, LC)
- Independent decision maker with a record of successful technical achievement
- Ability to travel within United States and overseas as needed for product support
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
- Demonstrated responsible and ethical behavior at all times
- The ability to help the company drive greater value through understanding the business, making complex decisions and creating the new and different
- Carbohydrate chemistry and characterization
- Leadership experience
- Experience with Agilent MassHunter/ChemStation/OpenLab and Waters Empower
- Experience with LIMS
- Polymer chemistry and characterization
