The Analyst of Strategy & Business Planning will partner with the Director of Strategy & Business Planning as well as the SVP of Wines, Brand Marketing and Commercial leads and other internal cross-functional departments to help support the MH Wine Estates business, a portfolio of iconic and distinctive brands including Whispering Angel/Château d’Esclans, Joseph Phelps Vineyards, Minuty, Cloudy Bay, Terrazas de los Andes and Bodega Numanthia. In tandem with the Director, the Analyst will assist with developing strategies and action plans which may include forecasting, planning, and pricing, and help identify business growth opportunities based upon underrepresented business segments through analysis of internal and external data and critical metrics.

Key Accountabilities

  • Serve as key resource for MH Wine Estates team on data and analytics needs, using internal and external data sources including PowerBI, Anaplan/MAP, Nielsen, etc.
  • Support a data driven commercial plan which monitors business performance and overall execution of strategic imperatives, in partnership with Wine Estates Brand Marketing, Maisons, Commercial and Finance teams
  • Partner across all aspects of the planning, forecasting, and pricing process to achieve sales and profitability targets.
  • Serve as a key liaison with FP&A on Financial Reporting, LE1/LE2/R&O/Landing deliverables and FTT/DPP spend.
  • Make recommendations to identify business opportunities within growth markets and underpenetrated consumer segments; work directly with the Business Insights / Data, Analytics and Commercial Management teams to identify areas of opportunity and growth.
  • Support and build compelling presentations for Maisons, Global MH / MHWE, and internal MHUSA Monthly Business Reviews with clear, accurate insights and action plans
  • Partner with the Director, Strategy & Business Planning team to conduct a regular analysis of brand performance to create fact-based recommendations and action plans to support an increase in depletions, revenue, and profitability.
  • Establish, monitor, and report on overarching business and brand critical metrics (Program/initiative KPIs established and tracked in partnership with Brand Marketing)
  • Support analysis and development of optimum pricing strategies (annual and ad hoc) to improve revenue growth.
  • Work closely with the Finance and Operations teams to monitor and allocate the supply for the Wine portfolio, specifically Fine Wines and vintage transitions.
  • Support effective P&L Management including Total Brand, A&P & FTT tracking, in partnership with Brand & Trade Marketing teams.
  • Develop and maintain strong cross functional relationships with Commercial, Finance and Operations teams and the Maisons; communicate brand group priorities and investment strategies (Mix, A&P + FTT) and get local insights to monitor and manage business performance.

Education

Bachelor’s degree required.

Professional Experience

2+ years of professional work experience.

Practical/Technical Knowledge

  • Excellent analytic and interpretative skills.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills and ability to articulate strategic point of view and recommendations.
  • Comfortable with large data sets and learning internal database systems (PowerBI, Anaplan, Nielsen…).
  • Proven proficiency in MS Excel, MS PowerPoint.
  • Solid time management skills and ability to work independently or within a large team.
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to work with all levels of the organization, adapting to various work styles.
  • Curiosity, humility, and strives for continuous improvement.
  • Experience in project and stakeholder management.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment.
