Occ Summary

Develop and maintain web pages and sites for law school community; interact with faculty and staff about their needs; implement new pages in consultation with Communications and Web Services staff; work with Journals and scholarship repository content experts to improve design, usability and impact of online content; and participate in the process of keeping Duke Law’s website accurate, up-to-date, accessible, and state of the art.

Primary Position Responsibilities

Develop and maintain web pages and sites for the law school and affiliated groups. Strategize innovative solutions for presenting content in various web systems. Ensure accessibility for online content including web pages and hosted documents.

Make updates in a timely fashion. Interact professionally with community members. Provide reliable editing where necessary.

Provide training resources for faculty, staff, and students on content management systems Drupal and Wordpress, learning management software Canvas, and survey software such as Qualtrics.

Work with the Registrar’s Office, journals, faculty support staff and directly with faculty to maintain accurate faculty and curricular web pages. Consult and collaborate with Communications staff to assure planning, design and implementation of websites and pages are consistent with marketing goals.

Translate provided documents or materials received into a format suitable for the web. This may include working on presentation for digital signage and for email campaigns.

Work closely with the Web Services Manager to follow standards for HTML, PHP, Javascript, CSS, page layout, images, logos, usability and accessibility. Create web forms where appropriate.

Provide support for faculty using the Canvas learning management system.

Consult with content experts and develop strategies, designs and improvements to keep Journals and scholarship sites attractive, useful and up to best practices.

Required Education

Requires knowledge of basic technology principles normally acquired through two years of post-secondary education or the equivalent. Must have excellent writing and communication skills.

Required Experience

Work requires experience in the fields of web development, editing, and design of two years.

OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Preference for individual who has proven ability to work with a team in developing, maintaining, and improving websites.
