Summary
The AHA Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) Coordinator is responsible for implementation and operationalization of the RQI program and has oversight for all activities related to American Heart Association (AHA) including Heartsaver, Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) courses at Akron Children’s. The RQI Coordinator also functions as the AHA Training Center Coordinator.
This role will actively participate in the planning and implementation of the RQI program across all Akron Children’s locations. The RQI Coordinator serves as the subject matter expert on the program providing daily support to leaders and staff throughout the organization and the region. This role will provide an administrative lead for internal and external AHA instructors, troubleshoot issues and concerns with equipment/processes, develop a rotating logistic schedule for RQI stations, and schedule classes throughout the year to meet the needs of the organization.

Responsibilities
- Program Implementation: Developing and implementing the RQI program within the organization, ensuring that all healthcare providers are enrolled and participating as required throughout Akron Children's regional facilities.
- RQI Coordination: Develops a logistics plan for the equitable use of the RQI stations throughout the regional footprint and directs equipment deployment as necessary.
- Training Coordination: Scheduling and coordinating training sessions for healthcare staff, including initial training and ongoing recertification sessions.
- Monitoring Compliance: Tracking participation and completion rates, ensuring that all healthcare providers meet the necessary training requirements and maintain current certifications.
- Quality Assurance: Monitoring the quality of training sessions at both Akron Children's and community sites through the AHA’s instructor network, Atlas. Providing feedback to instructors to ensure that the program meets AHA standards.
- Data Management: Maintaining accurate records of training completion, certifications, and compliance for reporting purposes.
- Position requires travel throughout Ohio.

Technical Expertise:
- Excellent written and oral communications including strong presentation/speaking skills.
- Strong organizational skills are required.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Must possess excellent computer skills and be a strong end-user of computers.
- Experience working with various levels within an organization is required.
- Experience working in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) or similar software is required.
- Ability to travel and work flexible hours, as needed.
- Education Required: bachelor’s degree in health or human services field or 5 years of related experience.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in hospital operations or healthcare field.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider certification through AHA. Must obtain BLS Instructor certification within 1st year.
