Select appropriate scripts for the students available
Purchase play scripts / rent materials for the productions according to established guidelines
Prepare, rent or purchase the Director’s Manual for the productions, including blocking, movement, lighting cues, audio cues and other aspects of the production as a reference resource
Recruit students for stage and technical positions
Develop a rehearsal schedule coordinated with the Music Department to avoid conflicting events, plan annual calendar events and communicate dates with administration to secure facilities
Design an adequate set, lighting plot, sound plot and properties plot for each production; communicate needs with Technical Director
Design and coordinate costuming for each production.
Maintain neat and organized costume storage.
Secure needed props for adequate rehearsal.

Ensure all adults working with the show are authorized to do so as either NESD employees with approved extra-curricular contracts or board-approved volunteers prior to their working with or among students.
Casting and auditions
Conduct impartial auditions for each production with a quantified scoring system.
Keep accurate records of student involvement for awards and recognition.
Collect student activity fees associated with the production.
Cast each production according to the audition results; monitor academic eligibility for each student participant.
Rehearsals
Plan and conduct meaningful rehearsals to utilize student time efficiently, supervising all students at all times.
Coordinate the Run Crew for the production itself; in place for at least two weeks of rehearsals
Coordinate evening meals during late rehearsals, usually during the last few week
Set Design/Stage Crew
Coordinate construction of the set observing all applicable safety regulations
Purchase materials as needed.
Maintain neat and organized storage for tools, supplies, etc.
Encourage students to help with set construction; supervise students at all times
Strike the set immediately upon completion of the production.
Store reusable items and dispose of others
Maintain orderliness in all storage areas
Tickets and marketing
Create and oversee completion of tickets, programs and publicity materials for each production in a timely manner.
Coordinate ticket sales
Identify, support, and supervise a Ticket Manager to oversee ticket sales.
Keep accurate records of ticket sales
Prepare an annual report for the NESD School Board Athletics and Activities Committee
Business
Keep accurate records of expenses
Submit requests for reimbursement for expenses in a timely manner
Facilitate ushers and refreshments for intermission for each production
Coordinate the return, laundering, repair and storage of all Costumes, Props and Furniture
Return any rented materials and items to avoid any late fees
Coordinate payment of stipends for services
Evaluate the events and overall program to determine areas for improvement?
Collaborate with the musical/Dramatics advisor throughout the process.
