Job Summary/Purpose
Responsible for management of the SEARHC clinic laboratories, including supervision of personnel, budget administration, quality assurance and management, supply procurement and contract negotiation, selection and purchase of equipment, all administrative laboratory functions, and compliance with all regulatory agencies.
Responsibilities
- At the direction of the CLIA License holder, evaluate the quality of laboratory services personnel, and equipment.
- Relates laboratory services to the medical staff and patients.
- Assesses laboratory needs and utilization and explores sources and methods to meet that utilization.
- Ensures compliance with all ELMC and Consortium-wide policies.
- Ensures compliance with all outside regulatory policies and agencies such as HIPAA, JC, CLIA, COLA, and OSHA.
- Serves as the Administrator for the ELMC Harvest LIS and co-administrator of the consortium-wide Copia LIS.
- Maintains lab policy and procedure manuals.
- At the direction of the CLIA License holder, plans, implements, coordinates, reviews, and ensures compliance with all laboratory quality control, proficiency testing, quality assurance, safety, accreditation, and preventive maintenance programs.
- Troubleshoots and resolves instrument and laboratory system failures.
- Performs specimen collection and lab testing in all areas of the clinical laboratory.
- Routinely reviews patient reports to ensure accuracy.
- Assesses and monitors operational costs and develops laboratory budget.
- Coordinates recruitment, retention, and personnel actions.
- Develops and monitors ongoing continuing education for lab and nursing personnel performing waived testing.
- Other duties as assigned
Experience:
- Two years experience in a clinical laboratory setting
- Two additional years of supervisory experience in a clinical laboratory setting is preferred.
Licenses, Certifications, And Registration
- National laboratory certification - ASCP or equivalent
- Clinical laboratory and healthcare regulations
- Laboratory sciences
- Working knowledge of other departmental processes
- Competent phlebotomy and technical skills
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Advanced computer use skills
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Ability for analytical thinking and troubleshooting
- Ability to lead, manage, and motivate personnel
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Products including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
