Air Quality Field Tech - Delaware Basin

The position is responsible for inspecting facilities, troubleshooting and data gathering for state and federal air quality reporting and associated standards. The position will be a key contributor to the Sustainability Team with responsibilities including, but not limited to, onsite inspections detecting and mitigating fugitive emissions; troubleshooting; Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) inspections; supporting efforts related to Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions reductions; awareness of regulatory and legislative impacts to operations of Vital Energy facilities; assist and support Sustainability team through conducting or coordinating Air Quality related training; assist in inspections and audits.

Principal Duties And Responsibilities

  • Schedule and conduct inspections focusing on leak detection/repair at applicable facilities utilizing OGI (FLIR) camera or similar technology.
  • Maintain records required for annual reporting of fugitive emissions inspections including inspection logs, repairs, follow up inspections and repair descriptions.
  • Assist with troubleshooting facility start-ups, audits, and acquisition due diligence.
  • Support Air Quality team with data gathering and verification of engines, facilities, and modifications for applicability to state and federal air standards.
  • Assist with annual Air Quality reporting, engine stack testing, equipment inventories, SPCC and other inspection and permitting requirements.

Education, Knowledge And Skills

  • EHS/Air Quality industry experience preferred; 3-5 years oilfield experience required.
  • Ability to troubleshoot emissions related issues and effectively communicate/implement solutions.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to adhere to strict deadlines.
  • Strong computer skills with the ability to effectively work and communicate in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
  • Effective team player who takes active role in team responsibilities.
  • Self-motivated, strong work ethic with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • In-depth understanding of oilfield operations.

Compensation

Salary is commensurate with experience.

Working Conditions

Approximately 75% of work is performed outdoors where exposure to conditions of extreme heat/cold is common. Noise level exposure is often moderate to loud and will require the use of hearing protection. Job hazards include working in normal light and heavy construction activities and working around pressurized vessels, electricity, and waste lines. May work in areas where H2S is present. May occasionally wear harness and / or be in a manlift while inspecting locations at heights of 30’. Regularly conduct equipment repairs on location. Occasional overtime may be required. Approximately 25% of work is performed in a climate-controlled environment.

Physical Demands

Work normally requires finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination to operate computer keyboard at moderate skill level. Work may require frequent pushing, pulling, or carrying 50 to 75 pound objects such as tools, equipment work operations. Work involves standing and walking most of the time but will also involve sitting and driving for extended periods sometimes over rough terrain.
