Description

The Admissions Director is primarily responsible for developing and implementing admissions policies, attracting prospective students, evaluating applications, making admissions decisions, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. They play a critical role in shaping the incoming student body by developing effective recruitment strategies. The Admissions Director reports directly to the AVP of Enrollment Management.

Essential Functions

  • Creating and implementing admissions policies and procedures in line with the institution's goals, standards, and regulations.
  • Designing and executing strategies to attract prospective students.
  • Overseeing the evaluation of applications, ensuring that they meet the institution's admission requirements and standards.
  • Making final decisions on admissions based on the evaluation of applicants' academic records, standardized test scores, essays, letters of recommendation, and other relevant factors.
  • Serving as the primary point of contact for prospective students and their families, providing information about the institution, its programs, and the admissions process.
  • Collaborating with other departments, such as financial aid, academic advising, and student services, to ensure a smooth transition for admitted students.
  • Analyzing admissions data to track trends, evaluate the effectiveness of recruitment strategies, and make data-driven decisions to improve the admissions process.
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and accreditation standards related to admissions.
  • Managing the admissions budget, including allocating funds for recruitment activities, staff salaries, and other expenses.
  • Supervising admissions staff, providing training and professional development opportunities, and ensuring that they have the resources they need to effectively carry out their duties.
  • Identifying areas for improvement in the admissions process and implementing changes to enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and the overall experience for applicants.
  • Providing oversight for the international student visa process.
  • Serving as a Designated School Official.
  • The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that logically relate to the position.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Strong understanding of admissions policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience with data analysis and using data to inform decision-making.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and accreditation standards.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and foster a culture of inclusivity and equity.
  • Leadership skills and experience supervising staff.
  • Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to fifty (50) pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree; master's degree preferred.
  • 2-3 years of experience in admissions or related field.
  • Flexibility to work outside of normal business hours.
