The Admissions Counselor supports all functions of Undergraduate Admissions at the University, including (i) planning and participating in the implementation and recruitment of prospective students using marketing strategies and public relations skills and (ii) counseling and advising prospective students and parents regarding the admission process and UATX’s academic offerings.
The Admissions Counselor is responsible for various aspects of recruitment, application processing, enrollment, communication, tracking and reporting, interviews, wait-listing, scholarships/financial aid, and admissions events and programs.
While working with all departments and individuals involved in the admissions process, the Admissions Counselor communicates via print, email, and phone correspondence; and processes applications, produces reports, and evaluates data.
The Admissions Counselor’s duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Identify and recruit prospective students by, among other things, visiting high schools, conducting meetings with prospective students, and assisting with prospective and admitted student weekends
Manage application material for candidates and run statistics and reports
Assist with development of marketing, advertising, and promotional materials in connection with student recruitment
Assist with coordinating admissions personnel schedules
Manage scholarships by tracking awards and confirmations, pulling and sending rosters, and identifying scholarship interests
Meet with prospective applicants and other visitors at the Admissions Office, answer questions, provide information, and assist with tours and visits
Assist Communications Department with social media sites; update and edit admissions-related website content
Prepares, run, and build reports as needed; analyze data to coordinate recruiting efforts
Create and maintain prospect and applicant records in university campus recruiting management (CRM) system
Assist with financial aid processing, awards, and disbursements
Other duties as may be assigned
Requirements And Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (or working towards the same)
Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Adobe
Strong interpersonal and people skills
Ability to quickly adapt to new technologies and advanced administrative skills
Ability to successfully juggle various tasks and manage multiple, often conflicting deadlines simultaneously
Preferred Qualifications
3 years of relevant experience in admissions or human resources
Experience with student information systems and relevant CRM software(s)
Comfortable working in a data-informed enrollment operation
