Dewey Smart (deweysmart.com) is an education technology company that provides personalized tutoring, enrichment, and college admissions counseling services to high school students. Our platform connects students with college students from top schools for mentorship from freshman year of high school to freshman year of college and beyond.
About the role
Dewey Smart values outcomes over process. This position will focus on measuring and improving the following outcomes, in order of priority:
Overall Enrollment Goal: Conversion from initial consultation to follow-up consultation
Enrollment Operations Goal: Speed of response time to customer support requests + onboarding requests
Enrollment Communications Goal: Leads from non-marketplace listing channels
What will you do?
Host initial consultations for students. For tutoring, drive towards a sale. For admissions counseling, drive towards a follow-up with Emerson.
Match new students with counselors, hold onboarding/welcome sessions, and manage student support/scheduling requests
Responsible for ideating, experimenting, and analyzing performance with new marketing/communication channels; this role is generative – you’ll be writing checklists and processes, not just executing them
Market and produce informative webinars from end-to-end: webinar creation, email invitations, social media promotions, and post-webinar content creation
Delegate responsibilities to a virtual assistant, so that you are focused on the highest impact work
[Lower priority] Execute email campaigns to our entire audience and audience segments via Mailchimp
[Lower priority] Manage high school intern, a blog writer, and a virtual assistant to run social media, email marketing campaigns, and SEO workflows
[Lower priority] Ensure communication-related data is in all relevant systems, leveraging no-code automation tools like Zapier
Who are we looking for?
Given the nature of an early-stage startup, the day-to-day responsibilities may change. We look for people with the following characteristics:
You’re ready to work hard and strive for excellence – WFH still means meeting goals and putting in at least 40 hours a week of real work
You’re not confined to a 9-5 work regime; we work with high school students and families, so we usually start and end later with more breaks during the day, if we’re working later. You will be expected to work regularly on weekday evenings (PT time) and one weekend slot.
You're looking for a role to grow with. Fast growth excites you because you see the opportunity to level up and level up quickly.
You’re scrappy and aren’t afraid of making (and admitting) to mistakes
You’re comfortable with ambiguity and taking ownership in the face of uncertainty
You’re a systems-oriented thinker. It's not just about helping one student; it's about how we help one thousand students
You have past admissions counseling experience, particularly if you’ve worked as an admissions counselor at a university
