Title: Administrator of Workforce Development
Institution: Volunteer State Community College
Job Summary
This position is responsible for identifying, developing, and promoting workforce development opportunities associated with the college’s workforce development division. The position is responsible for managing general non-academic credit programs that focus on industry and short-term certification programs. It provides leadership and support in planning and organizing best practices to increase employer partnerships that expand student, faculty, and staff participation. Position is charged with promoting workforce development services to business and industry for purposes of developing contract training opportunities. Position markets and recruits employers for internship and work based learning activities in conjunction with appropriate academic division staff.
Job Duties
Provides vision and direction through effective academic and employer partnerships. Collaborates with academic divisions and other appropriate campus offices, including international education, to ascertain appropriate and targeted WBL links with area business and industry for student involvement. Conducts research to leverage public and private resources to fund workforce development industry certification trainings and assists with relevant grant research. Coordinates, monitors, tracks, and provides status reports on campus WBL programs including cooperative education, internships, externships, job shadowing, mentoring/coaching, entrepreneurial endeavors, etc. Collaborates with faculty and staff to schedule visits to WBL locations to ensure proper working conditions, accessibility, and required oversight. Supports advising by providing WBL information and opportunities for students. Provides assistance with the development, facilitation, and administration of Registered Apprenticeships. Apprenticeship duties include, but not limited to: Monitoring, submitting required state and federal reports, and other related duties as assigned/needed. Promotes college’s ability to provide customize and/or industrial related workforce development contract training to employers via door-to-door visits, promoted consultation services, organizational meetings, and any/all other marketing methods. Facilitates the development of contracts back the office of the VP for contract development. Promotes OSHA courses and OSHA contract training to employers. Ensures compliance with internal and external policies, regulations, processes and procedures. Remains apace of state, regional, and national trends to recommend to the administration. Represents the department/college as appropriate on external boards, councils, committees. Assists the Vice President for Economic Development and Regional Centers with special projects associated with workforce development initiatives and regional centers. Responsible for gathering and monitoring all data and reporting associated with the Workforce Division. Position shall serve as a point of contact for the division’s registration and data collection system. Responsible for promoting and marketing the college’s online workforce development/continuing education programs, including the monitoring and reporting associated with the online course registration systems. Responsible for assisting Vice President of Economic Development and Regional Centers with the development and creation of workforce development courses and programs. Responsible for the daily operations and monitoring of workforce development/industry certification and training courses and programs. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree.
Three years experience in career or technical training, cooperative education/experiential education, service learning/civic engagement, corporate training, higher education, or related field.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student population.
Effective analytical skills.
Excellent organizational skills.
Demonstrated problem solving, fiscal, and time management skills.
Pay Rate: $47,276 - $59,095 annual salary depending on experience
