Administrative Director - Research Unit Operations

Location: Charlotte, Kannapolis

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all administrative functions, ensuring smooth operations across departments and units.
  • Provide organizational management, with a focus on human resources oversight and strategic planning.
  • Act as a liaison between senior management and staff, facilitating communication and fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Implement policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness within the institute.
  • Collaborate with research teams to support their administrative needs and facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Manage budgets, resources, and procurement processes to support research initiatives.
  • Serve as a point of contact for external stakeholders, fostering partnerships and representing the institute professionally.
  • Supervise administrative staff, providing guidance and mentorship to ensure their professional development.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Previous experience in a senior-level administrative role, with a demonstrated understanding of organizational management.
  • Experience in a research environment is highly desirable, with knowledge of academic research processes and protocols.
  • Familiarity with university settings, particularly the University of North Carolina (UNC), is advantageous.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse teams and personalities.
  • Proven leadership abilities, with a history of operating in senior roles and managing complex projects.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications.
  • Commitment to excellence, integrity, and professionalism.

Employment Details:

  • This position is initially offered as a contract-to-permanent role, with a six-month contract period to ensure good long-term fit.
  • The role requires onsite presence five days a week at the Charlotte/Kannapolis location.
  • Personality fit is a key consideration, with a preference for candidates who exhibit the right demeanor and cultural fit for our organization.
