Administrative Coordinator Genomic Medicine

This is what you will do:

This role will serve as the primary support person for our VP, Head of Genomic Medicine Research and Executive Director, Viral Vector Product Development within Alexion’s Research and Product Development & Clinical Supply organization. Located in our Cambridge, MA office, you will ensure smooth daily operations for these leaders by performing a diverse set of responsibilities across two functional teams. Additionally, The candidate must be comfortable working efficiently in a fast-paced environment and collaboratively across the organization to enable the Leadership Team to execute on our operational goals. You may also coordinate and support special projects and large-scale initiatives across the company.

You will be responsible for:

Responsibilities will vary depending upon priorities and may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Administrative Support & Office Management:


  • On behalf of the VP, Head of Genomic Medicine Research and Executive Director, Viral Vector Product Development, provide logistical planning and support including calendar management, travel coordination, and expense reporting.
  • Execute on special projects through coordination of internal and external stakeholders, dealing with all levels of the organization
  • Support colleagues with planning/preparation for meetings with external visitors and department off-sites. Including, but not limited to reserving meeting rooms, scheduling catering, and coordinating with external sites and vendors as needed
  • Assist with departmental event planning
  • Accountable for all non-lab purchasing activities to ensure that the office is well-equipped and operational
  • Coordinate mail and shipping non-lab packages
  • Serve as the liaison between sites


You will need to have:


  • 4+ years of experience supporting senior leaders. Experience in the biopharmaceutical industry is a plus
  • Must be self-motivated, detail-oriented, proactive, attentive to detail and exceptionally organized
  • Proven ability to take initiative, determine priorities, exercise good judgement, and work collaboratively with organizational peers
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation) including ability to communicate throughout all levels of an organization
  • Strong organizational skills and a sense of urgency with flexibility to adapt to changing and competing priorities
  • Able to prioritize and manage projects simultaneously in a timely manner
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Software
  • Professional maturity, and ability to handle confidential and/or sensitive information
  • Capable of traveling between sites in the Boston area as needed

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $63,200 to $94,800. However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles) or to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles). Benefits offered included a qualified retirement program [401(k) plan]; paid vacation and holidays; paid leaves; and, health benefits including medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
