Purpose of Role
Adjunct faculty member to teach a course in Sustainable Business Practices for students of all majors during Fall 2024 semester. This course will introduce the concepts of sustainable business practices and corporate social responsibility. Examples from the Western New York business community should be highlighted where appropriate.
The course will meet in person with one class weekly on Thursday (on the Amherst Campus) evenings 6-8pm and additional course activities to be completed online asynchronously during the week. Curricular and instructional design help is available.
About This Opportunity
Joining our Academic Affairs - Global & Local Sustainability team, the Adjunct Professor - Sustainable Business Practices will be responsible for the following:
In Sustainable Business Practices, students will gain an understanding of relevant issues and learn how to increase sustainability within business. The course is designed to provide a broad exploration of environmental and social issues and their effect on business and consumers. Students will explore sustainable business practices that emphasize policies to minimally affect the local and global environment, manage resources and create positive social environments. Students will learn emerging strategies for sustainable businesses and build technical proficiency using case studies, projects, role-playing, and listening to guest speakers.
The course is open to all majors and will introduce concepts of systems thinking, corporate social responsibility, sustainability metrics and reporting.
Knowledge And Skills
Candidate should possess a master's degree or higher in an appropriate field, have work experience that relates to the course material and facility with the online environment. Previous teaching experience is preferred.

- Demonstrate analytical and organizational skills necessary to plan, implement and evaluate educational activities to assure compliance with established goals and objectives
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written, necessary to interact effectively with all university constituents
- Strong time management/organizational skills
- Demonstrated commitment to working with diverse populations
