Role Description

This is a remote contract Adjunct Lecturer position teaching DESN 660 Introduction to Web Development, a core course in the M.A. in Integrated Design at the University of Baltimore. The course is taught synchronously online, Wednesday evenings 5:30-8:00pm. The course covers an introduction to current standards and best practices for web design, including using frameworks, content management systems, and tools available for building and maintaining dynamic websites. The Adjunct Lecturer will be responsible for delivering the course curriculum, facilitating weekly class discussions and labs, grading assignments, and providing feedback to students. The role requires strong communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to develop troubleshooting confidence in students.


Required Qualifications

  • Expertise and proven application in web design and development
  • Experience building websites with content management systems, particularly WordPress
  • Working knowledge of web accessibility standards
  • Working knowledge of HTML and CSS
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Javascript or PHP
  • Ability to facilitate engaging class discussions in a remote setting
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Commitment to creating inclusive learning environments
  • Flexible and adaptable to diverse student needs
  • Bachelor’s degree in design, communication, digital media, or computer science


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in design, communication, digital media, or computer science
  • Prior experience teaching at the college level
  • Custom WordPress theme development
  • Working knowledge of code frameworks such as Bootstrap or React, as examples
