Adjunct Faculty - Introduction to Psychology

The School of Professional Studies seeks an adjunct faculty member to teach Introduction to Psychology online in a self-paced format beginning at various points throughout the year. Instructors will deliver a pre-developed course, adding their subject matter expertise and real-world examples to developed content. Instructors will play an important role in the continuous improvement and overall success of the course.

The instructor should be comfortable teaching online and in a self-paced format with students progressing at varying rates through the material.

  • Deliver instruction in an online, self-paced format
  • Support incorporation of diversity, equity and inclusion into the curriculum to broaden the education of students and expand their knowledge of health disparities.
  • Uses the University’s learning management system to post syllabus, assignments and other materials and to communicate with students
  • Advises and assists students through office hours or scheduled appointments, by videoconference, phone or email, and through other University-approved mechanisms
  • Provides service including student mentoring, ongoing course development, and assessment
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree in subject area or related field preferred.
  • Previous experience teaching online courses to undergraduate or graduate students entering health professions
  • Commitment to student success and the ability to engage and motivate students in an online format
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Must be able to work independently and effectively interact with a wide array of parties at all levels (students, faculty, administration/staff, alumni, and external constituents)
  • Experience with a learning management system, such as Blackboard
