LOCATION: Secondary School
HOURS: 8 hours/day, 220 days/year
Salary: Admin Salary Schedule

POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Athletic Director will be directing the athletics program and activities, providing information and serving as a resource to others; achieving defined objectives by planning, evaluating, developing, implementing and maintaining services in compliance with established guidelines.
The Dean of Students will assist students in resolving interpersonal problems and conflicts
and improve school and class attendance that enables student success in school. The person holding this position will communicate with students, parents/guardians, staff, and other student advocates. The Dean of Students does not perform any administrative duties or perform evaluations of teachers or other professional staff.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following conditions:
Frequent - Occupation requires this activity from 33% to 66% of time (2.5 to 5.5+ hrs/day)
Occasional - Occupation requires this activity up to 33% of time (0 to 2.5+ hrs/day)

Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
- Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate.
- Successful middle or high school teaching experience.
- Successful experience with co-curricular activities.
- Administrative Credentials.
- Bachelor’s degree in job related area.
- Ability to schedule several activities, meetings, and/or events.
- Ability to gather, collate, and classify data.
- Flexibility to work with others in a wide variety of circumstances.
- Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals.
- Ability to interpret guidelines and rules.
- Ability to interpret policies and procedures.

- Possess strong interpersonal relationship skills.
- Ability to facilitate parent, student and teacher conferences.
- Willing to supervise school events outside the school day.
- The ability to provide the appropriate role model for high school and middle school students in a counseling setting.
- Knowledge of current rules and regulations involved in the area of discipline, safety and confidentiality,
- Possess excellent writing skills, and ability to communicate with students, teachers, and families of students.
- Assists principal in the overall administration of the middle/high school.
- Performs as a resource for teachers and staff who express concerns for student attendance, student development, and/or discipline.
- Coordinates efforts with guidance, school psychologist, and/or social worker in meeting with students and parents to discuss improving student attendance and/or behavior.
- Consults with families via conference or communication systems concerning student attendance and behavior.
- Confers with students and when necessary, makes appropriate referrals, guidance consultation, and/or psychological services.
- Assists in monitoring and recommending changes in the Kittitas School Codes of Classroom Conduct.
- Resolves student behavior concerns in a fair and timely manner and maintains records of disciplinary or referral actions taken.
- Closely monitors the physical plant of the schools and grounds and follows-up on student vandalism.
- Assists in the interpretation of school district programs relating to student substance abuse and truancy.
- Makes recommendations for appropriate revisions of policies and rules effecting student behavior.
- Prepares appropriate media related to student attendance and student development.
- Assists in discussing strategies to improve student performance, attendance and development.
- Assists in developing and administering practices dealing with campus control and security.
- Maintains active relationships with parents, families and students.
- Assists in establishing rules governing students sent to the in-school suspension/detention room.
- Responds to written and oral communication regarding student development and discipline matters.
- Supervises the homecoming week and prom activities.
- Serves as a member of such committees and attends such meetings as directed by the principal.
- Assumes responsibility when all administrators are out of the building.
- Perform other related duties, tasks, and responsibilities as assigned.
