Position Summary

Southern Land Company, a national real estate development and construction firm headquartered in Nashville, TN is seeking a full-time Accounts Payable Specialist to join our dynamic team.

Primary Responsibilities

• Process invoices for payment with sufficient documentation and authorization accurately and timely
• Distribution of payments to vendors
• Vendor administration and relations
• Ensure internal controls are appropriate within the processes and procedures
• Provide support to the Corporate and Field Teams

Skills/Knowledge/Experience

• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Ability to keep sensitive information highly confidential.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to deal professionally with clients, vendors, and co-workers on the phone and in person.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills, ability to take initiative, use good judgment, demonstrate a strong sense of urgency and attention to detail, and carry multiple projects through to completion.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize work and ask for further clarification when necessary.
• Ability to work under pressure with tight time constraints, as well as the ability to deal with frequent interruptions, unresolved situations, frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.
• Proficient data entry skills.
• Detailed oriented.

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Minimum 3 years of accounts payable or office administration experience
• Understanding of accounting process and internal controls
• Understanding state and local sales tax regulations
• Strong proficiency with complex financial systems and applications

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum 1 years of accounts payable experience within real estate development or construction industries preferred
• Sage 300 CRE ERP platform (formerly Timberline)
• Paperless Environments (PVault)
• Yardi Systems
