Accounting Supervisor

Job Description:

A medical professional liability insurance company is seeking an Accounting Supervisor to perform financial statement reporting, account reconciliations, variance analyses, budget work, and backup and training to department staff. This individual will oversee a team of two direct reports. The ideal professional will reside in California, Arizona or Nevada. The position has work-from-home capabilities.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and review the consolidated financial statement package.
• Compile and review notes for the parent company.
• Analyze financial statement variances for the parent company, subsidiaries and affiliated entities.
• Assist in preparing statutory filings for subsidiaries.
• Handle monthly cash close, quarterly entries and budget variance analysis.
• Oversee the publication of the monthly budget and vendor reports.
• Prepare and review sections of the executive detail reports as directed by the controller.
• Collaborate with other departments on the annual forecast and budget process.
• Supervise and manage tasks of the staff accountant.
• Develop efficient workflows and review monthly and quarterly balance sheets.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of accounting experience in the insurance industry
• Bachelors degree
• Financial reporting experience
• Audit experience
