As an Accountant, you will need to have excellent attention to detail, accurate bookkeeping skills, and a friendly demeanor when assisting in solving issues for our members, as well as:
Maintain accounting functions including AP, AR, and GL reconciliation
Maintain credit union record retention with accuracy
Process and complete bookkeeping and reporting to regulatory agencies
Process wire transfers as needed with special attention to possible fraud
Cash vault reconciliation
Provide backup support to other accounting team members
Ability to multitask and work independently as well as with a team
Qualifications
The Accountant is a professional who is expected to always act as an ambassador of Towpath Credit Union. The Accountant must work within all rules, regulations and laws, including passing applicable background checks and uphold confidentiality.
High School Diploma or GED required/ Bachelor's Degree in Finance preferred
Ability to meet deadlines. High level of organization.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Strong fundamental knowledge of basic finance & accounting.
Ability to perform basic to advanced mathematics functions, computing ratios, reviewing credit reports, etc.
Computer skills, including Microsoft Windows and Office, as well as Credit Union systems.
