Accountant

Job Description:

The position entails the day-to-day accounting responsibilities for several timber investment companies and associated structural entities ("Funds"). The Accountant is expected to assume full ownership of allocated Funds and provide support to the Chief Accountant. A solid grasp of balance sheets, income statements, and cash flows, along with proficiency in meeting deadlines, is essential in our dynamic work environment.

Key Accounting Responsibilities:

• Perform daily accounting tasks such as payment and invoice reviews, as well as posting.
• Conduct monthly soft close of Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and General Ledger (GL) within departmental deadlines, involving comprehensive reconciliations and updates to accruals and prepayments.
• Execute quarterly hard close, including fair value posting and other assets, and generation of quarterly reporting templates.

Additional Duties:

• Articulate Fund performance and major factors affecting quarterly results.
• Participate in the annual budget process and conduct budget variance analysis throughout the year.
• Communicate with in-country bookkeeping/accounting service providers as necessary.
• Initially provide support and eventually lead the independent audit program.
• Undertake analysis and special projects under managerial guidance.
• Handle financial reporting, maintenance, account reconciliation, and analysis of the general ledger and books of original entry.
• Reconcile quarterly fair market value to internal systems such as Power BI and MS Dynamics.
• Prepare audit confirmations and various subsidiary and auxiliary reports for both external and internal stakeholders.
• Prioritize and adhere to all financial reporting deadlines.
