ROLE SUMMARY:

Starshot is seeking a meticulous and proactive Accountant to join our growing Finance team. Reporting directly to the Controller, this Accountant will play a crucial role in supporting the financial operations of both the core investment firm and our portfolio companies as individual entities. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of GAAP, as well as core finance principles. RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Accounts Payable and Receivable. Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring accurate and timely processing of invoices, payments, and receipts.
• Reporting. Assisting the Controller with the preparation of financial statements, including income statements, balance sheet reconciliation, and cash flow statements for Starshot Ventures and portfolio companies.
• Budgeting and Forecasting. Assisting the Controller in the development of annual budgets and forecasts for the investment firm and portfolio companies, monitoring performance against targets.
• Tax Compliance. Assist in tax compliance activities, including preparation of tax returns, supporting schedules, and liaising/supporting external tax advisors as they prepare SVLP’s returns.
• Audit Support. Support external audit processes, providing documentation, explanations, and reconciliations as required.
• Internal Controls. Help establish and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard assets, ensure accuracy of financial records, and comply with regulatory requirements (i.e expenses, invoice approval).
• Payroll. Manage the firm payroll system, as well as payroll processes for each portfolio company individually. Ensure accuracy as the company grows and adds varied types of employees.
• Cost Accounting. Supporting SVLP’s manufacturing entity in standard cost setups and monitoring variances.
• Ad Hoc Projects. Participate in special projects and initiatives as assigned by the Controller, Principal group, or People Operations contributing to the continuous improvement of financial processes and systems.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required.
• 3-5 years of accounting experience is required. Public accounting experience is a plus.
• Experience with NetSuite is required.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
• Experience with HRIS/accounting softwares. Experience with Paychex is a plus.
• Experience in venture capital/private equity and/or startups is a plus.
• Excellent analytical, organizational and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency in Excel.
• Self-motivated with ability to work independently and multi-task.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
