What we’re looking for: An Account Supervisor, Healthcare Media Specialist for MSL’s Healthcare practice in our Chicago, NY, Boston or DC office.


What you’ll do: You will have the opportunity to leverage your passion, tenacity and vision to help shape the future of healthcare media for some of the biggest names in the industry.


What you bring to the table: Significant experience and proven success in media relations; strong, established relationships with health media (including pharma, bio and trade) and a passion to drive impactful coverage in the healthcare space and beyond. You will also have the opportunity to help develop and present compelling, strategic media recommendations for prospective clients. The right candidate will have a voracious appetite for news of all kinds, a pulse on media trends and passion for media relations and scoring results. This role reports to the SVP of Health Media.


Responsibilities

  • Recommend tactics, targets and timing for media outreach on client milestones related to data milestones, business announcements and celebrity campaigns
  • Establish and maintain relationships with health producers and reporters, contributors and influencers to successfully execute earned and sponsored content initiatives; build and maintain media lists and coverage trackers
  • Balance client needs and goals with reporter interest and maintaining reporter relationships, and ability to counsel clients on balancing
  • Produce concise error-free deliverables (media lists, pitches, strategy memos, briefing documents) with minimal direction and edits needed
  • Develop and pitch diverse health stories to effectively engage and maintain interest among health and relevant industry/trade publications and influencers to achieve client goals
  • Monitor client, landscape and industry coverage to proactively provide POVs to clients and inform ongoing, creative media engagement strategy
  • Maintain a deep knowledge and understanding of integrated healthcare, wellness and lifestyle media to facilitate effective strategy and execution
  • Subject matter expert on sponsored content, leading team and clients from recommendations through execution
  • In partnership with the SVP of Health Media, write and present strategic media engagement recommendations for existing and prospective clients (memos and slides)
  • Act as main point of contact for controlled media vendors
  • Work with account teams to help set media measurement and evaluation criteria that drive client results while exceeding client expectations
  • Help identify earned media training and development needs of junior staff
  • Ability to partner with account teams to support exceptional client experience


Qualifications:

  • 5+ years’ media relations experience, agency or in-house experience highly preferred and healthcare experience required
  • Data and regulatory milestone experience highly preferred
  • Deep knowledge of healthcare and media trends and ability to interpret/translate science and data
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proven track record of successful internal collaboration on cross-functional/multi-disciplinary teams balanced with ability to work independently to advance projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Positive, effective relationships with external third parties and vendors
  • Solution-oriented approach to address client and team challenges
  • Strong understanding of the relationship between traditional public relations and the use of current online/digital technology and social media
  • Ability to multi-task and proven success maintaining high quality work in quick paced environment with multiple client demands
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, and media monitoring, tracking and reporting tools such as Muck Rack, Cision/PR Newswire, Critical Mention, Burrelle’s, Factiva, etc.


Compensation Range: $70,000-$117,500. This is the pay range the Company believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position, and the Company reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time. For this role, the Company will offer medical coverage, dental, vision, disability, 401k, and paid time off.
