THE ROLE

Performance Improvement is responsible for selling, creating, and delivering solutions and professional services to meet client needs. While mentoring junior team members, the Senior Manager, Performance Improvement will work closely with healthcare providers on financial and operational improvements that come from excellent performance in Patient Access and Digital Front Door processes. A Senior Manager is responsible for project delivery and results, overseeing and developing junior team members, as well as solution/ practice growth and advancement. Ideal candidates will have experience in management consulting and the healthcare industry, specifically within patient access, front-end revenue cycle, and digital front door. More specifically, the candidate will have experience in areas such as patient contact center centralization, patient access strategy, provider template optimization, referral management, implementing self-scheduling, and preferably experience optimizing Epic to improve patient access, front-end revenue cycle functions, as well as digital front door technologies.

Senior Manager level performance metrics include the following:

  • Lead $1-3M in annual sales revenue
  • Work with Sales, Solution Executives and other Nordic leaders to bring in $2-4M in sales
  • Manage $1-3M in revenue delivery quality focused on ensuring project quality, team utilization, and margin goals

Key Responsibilities

A Senior Manager, Performance Improvement will be responsible for, but not be limited to:

  • Independently oversee large engagements or multiple small engagements. Examples include:
  • Oversee work plans, issue logs, status reports, and related initiative trackers, as well as the completion of client deliverables and leadership level report outs and presentations.
  • Coordinate and participate in the delivery of presentations to stakeholders.
  • Lead teams and initiatives to completion, achieving engagement results including financial technical, and operational improvements, where applicable
  • Manage core client relationships and delivery.
  • Anticipate project risks and provide timely solutions for addressing identified risk.
  • Manage project budgets and staff utilization.
  • Control project scope, budget, and team member utilization. Identify and routinely sharing status project director.
  • Support sales efforts by identifying client needs and developing solutions.
  • Assist with the scoping and budgeting of proposals, RFP responses and Creation of SOW’s.
  • Support account management and account planning activities, while taking ownership of key client relationships within target accounts
  • Facilitate the growth and development of less senior team members by teaching them the technical tools and operational knowledge of the practice area and providing opportunities for them to take ownership of certain aspects of the project.
  • Influence the actions and opinions of others in the desired direction; exhibits judgment in leading others to worthwhile objectives. Maintains a high level of integrity.
  • Involvement in the firm’s practice development including knowledge capital and tool development. Thought leadership and its application to client needs and practice development.
  • Identify practice development opportunities and representing Nordic in thought leadership and presentations regarding Nordic’s Performance Improvement Solutions
  • Maintain deep knowledge of healthcare related trends and information on clinical, technological and operational aspects of healthcare delivery.

Skills And Experience

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required in business, healthcare administration, industrial engineering or related field
  • 10+ years’ combined experience in the healthcare industry specifically within the focus areas outlined below(Master’s degree can count towards 2 of those years of experience)

  • Relevant hospital operations experience directing a department and/or team-based projects with a focus on process re-engineering/performance improvement initiatives and change management
  • Demonstrated experience in sales and project delivery consistent with the requirements of the role
  • Able to positively influence and engage consultants and clients, generating interest and enthusiasm for the solution line
  • Demonstrated abilities in team management, people leadership, mentoring and staff development
  • Able to identify trends and provide strategic recommendations to clients
  • Demonstrates strong project management and project leadership skills
  • Able to build lasting relationships with diverse individuals
  • Ability to work independently with little oversight or support, if necessary
  • Excellent organization skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent client-interaction skills, collaborative work style, and good interpersonal skills
  • Flexible; able to quickly adapt to working with different employees, clients, and changing priorities
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products and other collaboration tools, including virtual meeting and cloud technologies
  • Ability to manage several tasks at various stages simultaneously and effectively prioritize

Preferred Requirements

  • Master's Degree preferred
  • Prior leadership roles in healthcare or healthcare consulting
  • Prior Big 5 Management Consulting experience preferred
  • Preferred experience in Epic

Additional Details

  • Relocation to Madison, WI, is not required
  • Travel 10% - 60% of the time
