Status of Appointment : Contract (Malaysian only)
Fellowship Allowance : RM2,700.00
Area of specialization : TESL/TESOL/Applied Linguistics:
ELT/Multicultural Education/ Literacy Studies (LSRW)/Language Testing and Assessment.
Department : Department of Language and Literacy
Kulliyyah (Faculty) : Kulliyyah of Education
Location : Gombak
The officer should also undertake moral and religious obligations in relation to his colleagues and students as part and parcel of his duties as a member of the academic staff of IIUM.
The officer shall attend meetings of IIUM Authorities, Boards and Committees to which he, being an academic staff member, may be appointed as a member by virtue of the IIUM Constitution or any Statutes or Acts, or of any administrative actions of the Rector, Dean or Head of the Kulliyyah/Centre/ Department.
The officer is also expected to participate in the general life of the IIUM community.
The officer is also expected to advise and guide students in relation to their character, behaviour and moral conduct. In short, he is not only a teacher (Mu'allim), a scholar ('Alim) but also a moral educator (Murabbi).

3. Key Responsibilities
- Teaching TESL/TESOL/English Language Studies subjects to students from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Working harmoniously with colleagues from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Preparing and delivering lectures and tutorials.
- Participating in training opportunities and initiatives at the institution.
- Providing support to students and other colleagues.
- Setting and grading assignments, tests, and exams.
- Minimum Qualifications
- Diploma in Education or Bachelor in Education or Postgraduate Diploma in Education.
- Master's degree in related education fields (preferably from a recognized university by the JPA/ Public Service Department).
- Minimum 2 years teaching experience with local or international school or Higher Education Institution.
- Published work and background in research would be advantageous.
- Teaching experience with local or international school of HEI would be an advantage.
- Ability to inspire students with your passion.
- Flexibility, resilience, and willingness to work long hours.
- Strong interpersonal, presentation, and written and verbal communication skills.
- Creative and energetic, well-organized and committed.
- Skills in instructional technology & 21st century teaching skills preferred.
- Other Requirements (if Any)
- Candidate must be a Malaysian.
- Age not more than 30 years old.
- No binding agreement with another party.
- Successful candidates are required to further Ph.D in relevant field.
- Language Qualifications
- Credits in Bahasa Malaysia and English Language (including oral examination) at Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) level OR equivalent qualification recognized by the Government (for Malaysian citizens).
- IELTS Band 7 / MUET Band 4. Candidate without any of these qualification will be required to sit for the IIUM English Language Proficiency Test.
