Job Responsibilities
Reporting to the Vice President of Student Affairs, the Student Services Program Coordinator I (Academic Counselor) is responsible for processing student applications and provides student advisement to new and continuing students throughout academic process to ensure success rate of students as required to meet standards of the Student Affairs Division.
A Bachelor's degree.
Preferred Qualifications
Prefer a Bachelor's degree in appropriate related field of study and one (1) year experience in higher education setting. Must be proficient in oral and written communication. Knowledge of advising and transcript analysis. Must be proficient in computer skills (i.e. MS Word, Power-Point, Excel, etc.).

- Provides admissions, career, and academic counseling to prospective and enrolled students. Responds to inquiries in a timely and accurate manner regarding status of college application, enrollment process, general college services, and other enrollment services and information.
- Provides academic counseling and planning for newly admitted students based on placement scores. Reviews and scans incoming documents and supports outgoing communications regarding status of students advising and academic planning within various departments of college.
- Counsels, develops, and revises academic plans with students to ensure Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) is being met through the review of grade point averages. Work alongside the Financial Aid Department to monitor student progress related to SAP and meet with student periodically to discuss academic goals
- Participate in planning and implementing orientation sessions for incoming students. Conducts workshops/sessions for prospective, newly admitted and current students on topic related to student campus life. Assist with all student affairs programs and events. Performs other duties as assigned and required to support the mission and goals of the Student Affairs Division.
